Around The Island

January 5th 2005

While many areas affected by the Tsunami will take a long time to return to normal, Phuket has had a remarkable transformation. Within a week most parts of the island affected by the wave (only 5% of the island had any damage at all) have been cleaned and readied for life to continue.
This is due to the locals idea that; it has happened, it can't be taken back, let's clean up the mess and get on with it. The local authorities have done a remarkable job on this and deserve to be commended for the efforts put in since the wave hit.
